Exeter Park 3rd Annual Open House
Exeter Town Park located east of Belleville on County D
11 am - 3 pm
Phone: 608-424-1697 The park is located on nearly 12 acres of land along the Sugar River in Dayton. The open house will celebrate the installation of new playground equipment and park improvements made during 2010 as well as raising money for the next phase of development.
There is something for everyone! Meet the Green County Dairy Queen and get a cool taste of Wisconsin dairy from the ice cream trailer provided by the Green County Ag. Chest.
Bring your lawn chairs, Frisbees, balls & gloves, fishing poles and enjoy a relaxing afternoon on the river. Entertainment and fun for the kids include the new playground equipment, an inflatable bouncy house, and a fishing contest.
For the adults there will be a neighborly good time with friends & neighbors, the ever popular duck races down the Sugar River and drawings.
Drawings will be provided by local community businesses and take place at 2:00pm. And an original one of a kind painting, “June Pastorial” by local artist Jonathan Wilde will be on display – a special drawing will take place for this original artwork.
If you’re hungry, get a brat, roast pork sandwich or hot dog, chips, beans, drink, dessert and one duck entry – all for only $5.00 per person. Table service is provided.
Kids 15 and younger can join in the fun and participate in a fishing contest. Be sure to bring your fishing pole and bait. The fishing contest will start at 9:30 am and conclude by 1:30pm. The kids who catch the longest fish by 1:30 will have some special prizes awarded. Always a favorite, watch as the ducks race down the Sugar River. Duck races start promptly at 1:30pm. Watch to see which entries arrive first to take home a prize. Each meal purchased will receive a duck; purchase additional ducks for $1.00 each. Prizes will be awarded following the race.
We invite you to volunteer on the Park Committee, or to make a donation. Park Committee Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm at the Exeter Town Hall. If you would like more information, please contact Deb Broge, Park Committee Chair at 608-938-4170 or contact the Town Hall at 424-1697 to help at the park event.
The Exeter Park Committee would like to thank all of the local businesses who donated to this event, and the many contributors who helped to raise the money for the newly installed playground equipment. This open house is possible through their ongoing support and generosity.

Green County Cheese Days
Downtown Historic Courthouse Square, Monroe
Experience Old World tradition at an out-of-this world celebration. With a history dating back to 1914, Green County Cheese Days is the oldest and largest food fest in the Midwest – honoring Swiss heritage and the cheesemaking and dairy farming traditions of the area. Monroe’s Historic Courthouse Square serves as a scenic backdrop to the festival grounds, and the celebration attracts crowds of revelers ready to yodel, polka, and consume cheese by the truckload. Highlights of the weekend are: live music and Swiss entertainment, Family Farm Adventure, dairy farm and barn quilt tours, an arts & crafts fair, carnival, street dances, historic cheesemaking demonstrations, antique car and tractor shows, a cow milking contest, and The Swiss Colony Cheese Days Parade.
