BoDeans
Monroe High School Performing Arts Center
7:30 pm
As front men for the BoDeans, one of the premier American roots-rock bands, Wisconsin-based musicians Kurt Neumann and Sammy Llanas forged a signature sound more than 20 years ago based on heartfelt lyrics, passionate harmonies, and ringing guitars.
Since their inception in 1983, the BoDeans have had eight albums in the Billboard Top 200 and multiple singles in the Top 40, named "Best New Band" by Rolling Stone magazine, and also gained national exposure by touring with U2.
Their hit song "Closer To Free" made it into Billboard's top 10 and earned an ASCAP award for being one of the most played songs on radio.

Owl Talk and Night Hike
New Glarus Woods State Park
6:30 pm
Come celebrate Spring with an early evening camp fire, owl talk, and luminary lit walk through the Basswood trail. The Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park are hosting this annual event/ family tradition once again because we love it!
What: Owls of Wisconsin Program and Night Hike Where: New Glarus Woods State Park at picnic area by Park entrance. When: Saturday, March 27th, 2010, at 6:30 PM From: Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park
Whoooooo goes there??!! Join the Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park at 6:30 PM on Saturday, March 27th, to learn about the habitat and habits of the owls of Wisconsin. This family-oriented outdoor program will begin with a bonfire at the New Glarus Woods State Park picnic area by the Park Entrance.
Steve Johnston, Park Manager, and Brad Bates, Assistant Manager, will present an interactive and interpretive program with hands on demonstrations. Then, go for an evening night hike along trails lit by luminaries in search of these beautiful feathered friends and listen for their calls. Please check weather conditions and dress appropriately. Parents may wish to come early so their children can enjoy the new Park playground. Lawn chairs are suggested for playground and bonfire viewing.
The Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park is a non-profit group that helps promote awareness of the New Glarus woods, educates all ages about nature and assists in making the Woods an exceptional environment for nature and visitors. The Friends group welcomes new members. Please contact Dunnell Kendrick-Parker, the President of the Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park at 608 527 2335.
Although this event is free, parking in the State Park requires either a daily admission sticker or an annual Wisconsin Park sticker. Now is a good time to purchase a 2010 Wisconsin State Park sticker for $25 (over age 65, $10) because it can be used in all Wisconsin state parks, forests and recreation areas for the remainder of the year.

40th Annual Gem, Mineral, and Fossil Show
Monroe High School, Monroe
9 am - 5 pm
The Badger Lapidary and Geological Society is a non-profit organization founded in 1965 in Monroe, with the purpose of stimulating the interest of its members and the general public in the study of geology, paleontology, archeology, lapidary arts, beading, and mineralogy. The club has given many scholarships to local high school students that go on to study the sciences. Periodicals and books have been donated to local libraries and schools to further the public’s interest in science. The club also has equipment and books available to its members, as well as an award-winning newsletter, and field trips for collecting specimens.
Rockhounding, as it is traditionally called, is a family hobby for anyone interested in nature, science, history, art, and good friendships. Anyone interesting in joining the club can sign up at the membership table at the show or attend one of the monthly meetings, which are held at the Monroe Public Library on the second Saturday of each month, starting at 10:00am. Visitors are always welcome!
